And the record is part of its marketing campaign! In August, the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid beat the speed record for hybrid cars, reaching a top speed of 185.394 mph (298.363 km/h). For the second time this year, the same vehicle and same driver have just beaten this record by posting 187.147 mph (301.184 km/h). Motor Trend Associate Road Test Editor Carlos Lago was at the wheel and achieved this speed on the second leg of his second run.
