The 2015 Mazda CX-5 in both FWD and AWD versions was named a 2014 Top Safety Pick Plus by the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS) when it comes equipped with Mazda's Smart City Brake Support. This was awarded in addition to the 5-star rating from the NHTSA. It racked up perfect scores in the frontal and side crash tests and four out of five in the rollover test.
