Last Thursday, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the 2012 E63 AMG Wagon will be available in the US. It is scheduled to hit the American market as of October 2011 for a price of around $160 000 US.
As in the sedan, the wagon version will get the same 5.5-litre twin turbocharged direct injection V8 that was show cased at the New York Auto Show earlier this year. This engine produces 525 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque but with the available performance package as an option, its power can be raise to 557 hp and its torque to 590 lb-ft.
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon gets Stop/Start technology and an 7-speed automatic transmission which proposes 3 different modes. The German manufacturer is talking about improving its energy efficiency by 22% compared to the current model. New 19-inch wheels are included and it has a panoramic roof as standard equipment. It includes a complete set of AMG components like its suspension, brakes, shock absorbers and many others.
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 Wagon will offer performance and fuel consumption similar to the sedan but there is more space and the interior is more versatile. With its arrival in North America, there should be a good battle with the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon !
