2014 Toyota Tundra - Designed for the North American Market

Since it's introduction to the North American market a few years ago, the Toyota Tundra has always had a difficult time beating it's major competitors. However, the Tundra possesses a number of qualities that should naturally attract a wide range of potential buyers. Nonetheless, it was very challenging to stand our from the RAM 1500, Ford F-150 or even the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and it's cousin, the GMC Sierra.

For it's 2014 model, Toyota has decided to give a facelift to it's full-size pickup. Upon inspection, we discovered a new, more chiselled exterior design than we've seen in previous years. The cabin has also been completely redesigned and now offers a little more refinement, making it more attractive, comfortable and user friendly. From a technological point of view, on the 2014 Tundra, Toyota is offering a back-up camera and Bluetooth connectivity standard, and on all versions. While optional at this time, it is also possible to equip the truck with a blind spot monitor and also a new rear cross traffic alert system. Given the proportions of this big truck, these two electronic systems are not redundant.

As for available engines, first there is a 4.6-litre DOHC i-Force V8 that pumps out 310 horsepower and 327 lbs of torque. This is the base engine that powers most of the 2014 Tundras. It's also possible to opt for the 5.7-litre DOHC i-Force V8 which generates no less than 381 horsepower and 401 lbs of torque. Regardless of the engine chosen, the Tundra comes standard with an electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission. Even though engine choices are few in comparison to what the competition is offering, Toyota has made the decision to offer only those that are best suited to the Tundra, with satisfying power and fuel consumption. Towing capacity is the same as that of the previous year's model, 10,400 lbs.

The 2014 model is undoubtedly and excellent choice for those looking for a versatile full sized truck that is comfortable and well equipped, without breaking the bank at the pump.
