2015 Hyundai Genesis

It seems that there is no 2014 edition of the Genesis premium sedan, since the 2015 model will arrive at Canadian dealerships this spring. You'll remember that Hyundai launched the second generation of it's luxury sedan at the Detroit auto show in January.

Although the car's overall dimensions have remained essentially the same, all of the bodyparts have been redesigned. The wheelbase is stretched a little less than three inches, and Hyundai now uses high-strength steel to stiffen the unibody structure of the car. According to Hyundai, the car is 16 percent more torsionally stiff and 40 percent stronger when flexed.

The suspension components have also been strengthened. Thus, for 2015, the front and rear suspensions of the Genesis are composed of multi-link systems. The movement is most important, but the strength was also increased. The 5.0-litre V8 models also benefit from an automatic suspension adjustment. In addition, through a collaboration with Lotus Engineering, the car's handling should be a lot more interesting than the current model.

Also new for 2015 is the option of all-wheel drive when you select the 5.0-litre V8. The V6 3.8-litre engine will still be available, both engines benefiting from direct injection. The pair have been improved since some internal changes. Power in the V6 is 311 horsepower, while the V8 delivers 420 hp. The eight-speed automatic transmission will also return.

It's elegant silhouette is an invitation to sit in the spacious and richly decorated interior. According to Hyundai, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis offers more interior space than comparable sedans from BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz.

The car's equipment will include HID (high intensity discharge) adaptive headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lamps, electronic keyless entry with push-button start system, adjustable heated front seats, a touch screen for navigation and a rearview camera.

The starting price of the V6 is $43,000 while the 5.0-litre version fully loaded can climb higher than $62,000.
