The Ford Focus may be the best selling car in the world. The current model has been with us since 2011, and since the competition in this segment is so fierce, it's already time for Ford to update it's very popular compact car.
The headlights and grille are more refined and elegant, with a little inspiration coming from the Fusion. The car's hood, taillights and trunk lid have also been redesigned. It will be available in Canada in both four and five door models.
The biggest novelty is very small and found under the hood. Buyers can now select the EcoBoost 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine. Coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox, this engine was twice (in 2012 and in 2013) named "Engine of the Year" by a panel of automotive journalists. In Europe, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is found in five different models. In the Focus, it represents 32 percent of sales, while that number is 26 percent for the Fiesta. Ford even had to double production at it's engine factory in Cologne, Germany. It now builds 1,000 engines per day.
Everything in the cockpit has been done to bring it up to date, and the steering wheel is now offered heated optionally. Now standard equipment, the image from the rear view camera is displayed on a central screen measuring 4.2 inches or 8 inches if you go for the MyFordTouch option. Driver assistance systems such as a blind spot information system or a lane tracking system will also equip the 2015 Ford Focus.
Ford's well known SYNC infotainment system improves even more with the arrival of several new features. Now, developers can create applications that communicate with SYNC. Your smartphone can download the apps from Android Market and Apple stores recognized by the SYNC AppLink.
The 2015 Ford Focus will be in dealerships in the second quarter of 2014.
