Mazda Shows a Bit More of its First Electric Vehicle

Mazda confirmed a while ago that it was about to present an all-electric vehicle, and that the official reveal of the very first Mazda all-electric vehicle will take place at the Tokyo auto show next week.
 
Auto123 will be on hand for the premiere presentation of this highly-anticipated EV, but meantime, Mazda is doing what’s required to pump up interest even further, including releasing a short video that reveals a little bit more of the model.

The video doesn’t actually show us what the EV will look like, exactly, but it does reveal that Mazda’s first all-electric will, shockingly, be a small SUV. A glimpse of the roofline shows furthermore that it will be a relatively sporty-looking crossover, the styling of which reflects the Japanese automaker’s Kodo design philosophy.

Auto123 recently participated in a first road test of the EV powertrain that will fit into the new electric Mazda. The system was placed into a prototype that was in fact the new CX-4 model from the manufacturer; the exercice was designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the powertrain to automotive media, but Mazda specified that the EV that will be presented in Tokyo is not be a version of the CX-4.
