Chicago 2019: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Gets its Turn to Shine With Big Reveal

We’ve seen RAM, Chevy’s sister division GMC and now Ford all introduce their revamped new HD truck versions for the coming year. For its part, Chevrolet had published a first image of its new Silverado HD a few weeks back, which revealed the immense fascia of the new generation of HD products.

This week we’ve been given more detailed information about the new Silverado HD.

Ahead of the model’s public reveal at the Chicago Auto Show later week, Chevrolet has shared the following tidbits: the workhorse will be longer, wider and higher off the ground than the outgoing edition. For the crew cab versions, wheelbase is stretched by 5.2 inches. Choices faced by buyers will be dizzying: In all, there are 22 different possible configurations for the chassis, beds and powertrains.  

The default engine is a new 6.6L V8 fed by gas, which will deliver 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque; these represent increases of 11% and 18%, respectively. Towing capacity meanwhile has been boosted by 18%.
